OwedView reads the orders in your store that were placed on payment terms, works out what is outstanding and how overdue it is, and shows you the result. It does not create, change or delete anything in your store.
When you install OwedView, we keep a copy of:
Chasing a debt means knowing who to contact. When you open a trade account's page, OwedView reads the contact details Shopify already holds for that account — the contact's name, email address and telephone number, and the location's telephone number and billing address — and shows them to you on that page.
Those details are read as the page loads and discarded once it has rendered. They are never written to our database, never included in an export and never written to our logs.
We do not transmit them anywhere either. A payment reminder is drafted on screen for you to copy into your own email client — OwedView does not send email, and no supplier of ours receives your customers' details.
Because the app displays these four fields, it operates at Level 2 of Shopify's protected customer data requirements. Those requirements also ask us to keep an access log, so we record that a set of contact details was shown — the account, the date and the names of the fields. The details themselves are never written down, which is the whole point of the paragraph above.
Payment and card details. Shipping addresses. The contents of your orders — no products, no line items. OwedView asks for four permissions and nothing beyond what it needs to tell you what is owed, and it writes nothing back to your store.
When you record a chase, what you type is stored, along with the date and what was outstanding at the time. OwedView does not ask for anyone's personal details and does not structure what you write, but the box is free text and you may type a person's name into it if that is what you need. These notes are your own business record about your own customer, and they are erased in full when you uninstall.
Only to produce your report. A store with tens of thousands of orders cannot be re-read from Shopify every time you open a page, so OwedView keeps its own copy and updates it when an order changes. We do not use your data to train anything, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone for marketing.
Your data is held on servers in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. We use a small number of suppliers to run the service, who process data only on our instructions:
Nobody else has access. OwedView has no analytics trackers, no advertising pixels and no third-party scripts.
For as long as OwedView is installed. When you uninstall, Shopify tells us, and your data is deleted within 48 hours — that deletion is automatic and does not require you to ask. You can also ask us to delete it at any time by emailing support.
Under UK and EU data protection law you are the controller of your customers' data and OwedView is a processor acting on your instructions. OwedView stores no personal data about your customers, so a request from one of them to see or erase their personal data usually requires nothing from us — the exception is a note you have written yourself, which is in your hands. If you receive such a request and want confirmation in writing, email support and we will provide it.
If what OwedView stores ever changes, this page changes before the code does, and the date at the top is updated. Material changes are emailed to the address on your Shopify account.
